Environment Policies

The environment. As we see everyday, humans are harming the environment by horrible acts that the Pohutukawa Party would like to change. We have categorised these into rubbish and different types of pollutions. In terms of rubbish, we would like that rather than 1-2 bins in public areas, we should increase this by at least 4 so we can separate the rubbish. The next policy is for our oceans which links with water pollution. We are aware that individuals overfish and our oceans are severely polluted. This is why the pohutukawa party has come to a conclusion which is to create more marine reserves and fence out any sort of pests which may be around the marine reserve which we would like to protect. We currently have 33 legal marine reserves but would like to increase this. There will be consequences for fishing at these marine reserves which are paying a fine. Our third policy falls on underwater pollution. If you use biodegradable packaging for food you will not have to pay tax, though no extra tax will be paid if you use plastic packaging. By enforcing this policy we are able to decrease the death of numerous marine animals and pollution in general. Our last 2 policies are for air pollution which is quite severe in New Zealand. We want to decrease the amounts of factories which are being created to stop emissions of harmful gases. We should also invest more money into electric cars, however, the price of these cars should be decreased. We hope with these policies the environment will improve for the future.
